IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR

She’s baaaaaaaack! It’s been quite some time since I’ve been around these (virtual) parts, but I am extremely excited to announce that the annual SIDE OF MATCHA calendar is here again with a very special edition for 2022! Like I mentioned last year, SIDE OF MATCHA began as a way to keep myself busy, motivated + happy during my funemployment. SOM, especially the calendar, brought me a sense of purpose I had never experienced before. I’m grateful for having jumped into and doing it because it’s been so important + impactful in my life!

I will admit that I’ve been a lil off the SOM work in the last year. I took on a work role that required a lot of creative attention + execution, so I was so drained in being able to create for SOM. Many months later, I found myself back in LA (yay!) with a new place + job to kick off a new chapter of life.

I told myself I was gonna start the 2022 calendar on June 1, 2021, buttttttttttttt that didn’t really seem to happen. A(nother) cross-country move + adjusting to life out here took a lot out of me. Then, I told myself I’d start September 1, but I headed off to a festival and … contracted COVID. So after I got thru the first few (hella gnarly) days (ofc I’m vaxxed!), I sat down to create.

I am really stoked on this year’s work. It only took me a week to work thru, and in a very Artist’s Way way of thinking, I’m all about how the process ended up needing to be for me to get here. I knew exactly the growing pains/mistakes I wanted to correct, I knew how to coach myself thru roadblocks, I started with some of the more operational and technical tasks earlier on, etc. I definitely worked a lot smarter than I did last year, and I feel it really paid off.

Thank you to everyone who bought a calendar last year and to everyone who will buy one this year! It’s been so fun getting lil photos or texts here and there of you using your calendars, notes on your favorite month art, birthday wishes for Gaga, etc. I’m glad to have been part of all of your journeys this year, and I can’t wait to be part of next year’s!
