MATCHASOUNDS 017: DECEMBER 2019

Yeesh. How wild is it that 2020 is just a few days away?? This year flew by, and as, I look back, I’m astonished at how much has happened.

This year was incredibly challenging for me. I hit one of my deepest pits of depression, and my anxiety was so bad that I don’t really remember a lot from May-July. I struggled to not drown in stress and overthinking, and I had hit a point where I was physically numb all day. These were some of the scariest days because I never knew what would happen.

On a brighter note, there are so, so many incredible things to come out of this year. I was able to travel more than ever before (I think) — both for personal and work travel. I attended seven festivals (tied with 2017). I met some amazing people and was able to really depend my bonds with those I already held relationships. I started a new job and joined the best team there is. I experienced the very first Wakaan Festival, where I have never felt more genuinely happy to just exist.

My days are brighter, I feel lighter, and even those close to me have noticed a huge difference.

For this month’s playlist, I’m rounding out the year with some of the biggest EDM songs for me. These aren’t all songs that were released this year, like last year’s December playlist, but those that helped shape the year. These are ones that helped create memories from headbanging at fests to spending time with friends.

So bump up that bass, loosen up those necks and get ready. See you in 2020!
