YES, ANOTHER FAMILY CRUISE
Another #whitetrashworldtour is complete! As some of you may remember from last year, my family loves cruises. The reason is beyond me, and I think we’ve gone on more than I can count. Cruises aren’t my choice of vacation or travel, but a free trip is a free trip.
We headed to Florida to get on Symphony of the Seas, which is the same boat we were on last year in Europe. Thankfully my agoraphobia and general travel anxiety has gotten better, so I was able to get on this boat without as many issues.
Our group slightly differed from last year, and I was so, so happy that my best friend, Zoe, would join us.
We headed off and made stops in Honduras, Mexico and the Bahamas. The weather was nice and not too warm nor humid. We spent so many days swimming, laying out and stuffing our faces at yet another buffet.
I’m also glad to report that I didn’t really pop off at anyone, other than the photo team staff on the boat for trying to fuck us over in obtaining our group’s photos from the ship.
The other low of the trip for me was eating a gastronomic meal for Thanksgiving. I’m not terribly huge on Thanksgiving food, but gastronomic dining is probably, hands down, the thing I detest most. The food was aight, and restaurant was super tacky. The best thing I ate was popcorn chicken off the kids’ menu.
My favorite stop was Roatan, an island in Honduras. We spent the day at the West Bay, and I enjoyed getting to see a new place. The island is super tiny, but the views were incredible, and the people were so nice.
We also did stops in Mexico, where we did a river tube ride thing and then also visited Xcaret, a big park near Riviera Maya. The day on the river was so, so beautiful and getting to swim in fresh water rather than salt was a great change of pace. The drive to and from the river was longer than we were on the river for, but it was fun to float, paddle and splash.
Xcaret is always a tiring day but still so worth it. Our entire group did the river swim, and we even got to do the adrenaline boat which was wild.
As I get older, I’m thankful to get to spend time like this with friends and family, whether it’s my preferred vacation or not. I’ve come to realize that it’s better to be grateful for this time than to be hung up on small details.
